Sygnet Group scoops prestigious award

Gary Iley scooped the Entrepreneur of the Year award at the Leicester Mercury Business Awards
Defining the inspiration behind the awards, a statement on the event’s website reads: “We believe that the passion, determination, tireless energy and skill that goes into running a top-performing company all deserve recognition and our 14 award categories are designed to celebrate businesses from across a range of sectors.”
Gary Iley, managing director of signage and fabrication company Sygnet Group, was awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Having overseen the formerly-known Sygnet Signs, Iley took the opportunity of a company rebrand to significantly diversify into other areas – capturing the attention of the awarding body.

Sponsoring this year’s Entrepreneur of the Year award is Morningside Pharmaceuticals. Chief executive officer of the company, Dr. Nik Kotecha OBE, praised Iley’s entrepreneurial spirit and use of innovations and new technology to grow the business, calling the award “richly deserved.”
Kotecha also praised Iley’s adventurousness in starting up the LEDMonkey.com e-commerce website, as well as his successful entry into the retail sector.
Describing the signage industry as “often a little staid and unchanging,” the company says: “Individuals like Gary Iley emerge once in a while to shake up the status quo, thereby giving others something to aspire to.”
