The Midwich team has chosen mental health charity, Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind as its chosen charity for the next two years

The partnership was launched on March 1st when the 250 staff employed at Midwich’s head office in Diss took part in an active fundraising activity. To promote the positive effect that physical exercise can have on a person’s mental health, staff members rode exercise bikes and rowing machines throughout the day for a maximum of 30 minutes each.

Having raised £45,834.36 for its previous chosen charity, Nelson’s Journey, between 2017 to 2018, the technology firm is no stranger to raising money for a good cause.

Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind provides life-saving information when people need it most. They work to reduce the stigma associated with mental health, support people in their recovery and champion better services for all.

Commenting on the partnership, Sarah Ingram, fundraising manager at Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind says: “Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind are delighted to be chosen as the charity partner of Midwich for 2019 and we look forward to working with them over the coming months.

Staff get to chose which charity they wish to support and keeping our focus local is important to all of us here at Midwich

“We believe that no one should have to face a mental health problem alone and with the support from organisations like Midwich we can highlight the important work we do in the community and raise much needed funds for projects and services in the area.”

“We are delighted to partner with Mind as our chosen charity over the next two years,” adds Carla Shipp, ground head of human resources at Midwich. “Staff get to chose which charity they wish to support and keeping our focus local is important to all of us here at Midwich.

“We really hope that with the values we aim to raise from the support of our staff, their families, friends and of course the wider community. It will help to make a real difference in providing advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem,” she concludes.

An emphasis on the importance of mental health has been made across the sign industry recently with Gateshead-based sign manufacturer, Astley, investing in mental health training to support its staff. The initiative has provided five employees from different areas of the business with an intensive mental health first aid programme.
