Onyx Graphics celebrates its 30th anniversary

The Salt Lake City-based firm began creating its first wide-format specific raster image processor (RIP) software in 1989 and has since grown to serve a global market with its software.

Onyx began in the market with a vision to provide fast, efficient print solutions with bright colour, which has always been at the company’s core.

Products from Onyx include the Onyx Colour Engine with colour output built specifically for wide-format print; Onyx Thrive, the company’s network licence RIP and print workflow solution; Onyx Hub, a business intelligence tool with costs to improve print shop profitability; and Onyx 18.5, a solution which includes Adobe PDF Print Engine 5.1.

We’re incredibly proud of our heritage and entrepreneurial spirit as the first commercial wide- and grand-format print software company

Commenting on its anniversary, Kevin Murphy, president and chief executive officer of Onyx Graphics, says: “We’re incredibly proud of our heritage and entrepreneurial spirit as the first commercial wide- and grand-format print software company.

“Between our in-house development teams and colour scientists, along with close relationships with our worldwide customer base, Onyx Graphics has the unique position of continually driving innovation across the industry – something we’re looking forward to sustaining for the next 30 years.”
