Electronics for Imaging (EFI) has provided the Manchester-based firm with the new Vutek Fabrivu 520 printer to aid the growth of soft graphics production. The new aqueous-ink dye-sublimation printer can print graphics of up to 5m wide.

Managing director of Media Co, Mark Wardle, comments: “After many months of extensive testing and analysing print quality, colour gamut, ink vibrancy, contract and emerging technology, we simply could not ignore the results of the new Fabrivu 520 printer. The world-class expertise resulting from the collaboration between EFI’s Vutek division and Reggiani’s dye-sublimation mastery is inescapable and made our decision very easy.”

He continues: “Dye-sublimation products have previously been limited to a maximum width of 3.2 with the need for seams at larger widths, which can lead to puckering, mis-registration and unsightly lines in creative backdrops.”

Graphics can now be printed with no seams up to five metres wide, and Media Co can now offer a more extensive variety of fabrics to their customer base. The firm are launching five materials that will also benefit from the ability to print 5m-wide designs.

Media Co was one of the first companies in the country to work with and print large-format fabrics, and has worked on projects that have benefitted the likes of Wembley Stadium, museums, retailers, and other sporting events.
