PPB raises the competition stakes

Major materials supplier to the commercial print and sign-making industries, PPB, has completed a major strategic project that will no doubt significantly increase its competitiveness in this tough sector.

PPB have moved to a converted warehouse at Cross Green in Leeds

The news was release recently that it had finished its logistically challenging relocation to a specifically converted warehouse and office premises at Cross Green in the north east of Leeds.

Starting in March this year, 100 trailer loads of stocked items were moved from the old site, as well as sheeting and re-rewinding equipment, saw, and guillotine. The move was planned out carefully to ensure minimal impact on customer service.

By having one large 61,000sq ft warehouse with 4,000 pallet spaces, PPB will be able to offer faster order response times through an improved workflow from goods-in, to conversion, to goods-out.

With good road links to the north and the M1 to the south, we are well placed to both accept incoming deliveries from our suppliers and to give fast and effective access to the rest of the UK for our own deliveries to customers

“Leeds was the latest stage in our strategic growth plan,” says Richard Proctor, managing director of PPB, continuing: “With good road links to the north and the M1 to the south, we are well placed to both accept incoming deliveries from our suppliers and to give fast and effective access to the rest of the UK for our own deliveries to customers.

“This investment is part of our ongoing strategy to provide the widest range of plastic, paper and board, display materials and finishing services for the screen print and digital display markets. The further investment in machinery and stock now allows PPB to provide a high value service to sign makers, fabricators and wide format digital markets.”

Another benefit of the move is PPB have taken it as an opportunity to update the dust extraction system on its Schelling saw by installing a Modesta system, which is quieter, more effective, and more energy-efficient than previous equipment.
