Nettl speeds ahead with quick turnaround service

Nettl, the network of 100 neighbourhood web studios, has moved to enhance its already-strong reputation in the industry with the introduction of a new service that offers a fast turnaround option to customers.

Nettl Now officially launches in Manchester today (Monday)

‘Nettl Now’ is available on a range of print and display items, with customers able to order for free delivery within four hours. The service is being piloted in Manchester, with plans to roll it out over the wider network should it prove successful.

Peter Gunning, chief executive of Grafenia, the people behind the wide-reaching Nettl network, comments: “Our studios are constantly asked to help with last minute print jobs. We’ve developed Nettl Now to meet this demand and rescue clients out of their pickle.

“Perhaps they’ve been let down by another printer, or someone forgot to order marketing for an event, or they’ve spotted an opportunity and need to react quickly. It costs much less than you might think.”

The new service will launch in Manchester today (Monday), with production to be handled by the Nettl print factory in the city’s Trafford Park.

Our studios are constantly asked to help with last minute print jobs. We’ve developed Nettl Now to meet this demand and rescue clients out of their pickle

“Manchester was a natural choice for our pilot,” Gunning says, adding: “There’s a strong start-up scene and a growing tech hub in Media City, less than a mile from our factory. We’ve been printing in Manchester for over 20 years.”

The Nettl Manchester site has wasted no time in trying out the system and has already taken a number of orders from customers that tried out the service prior to its official launch.

One such operation is brand agency Schawk Manchester, whose representative was highly complementary of Nettl Now saying: “I tried out Nettl Now to see what it was like. Got some cards delivered in less than four hours. It was really easy and I love the quirky packaging.”

Should the Manchester trial be a success, Nettl Now will expand to 10 other cities around the UK, with production at these sites to be handled locally by selected Nettl and printing.com production partners that have signed up to be part of the first wave.

When you downright must have it and can’t risk an overnight courier losing it in their system, you might want to opt for the certainty that a dedicated Nettl Now driver brings—after all, we’re making it round the corner

Nettl will then push ahead with a national roll-out to cover all major cities, and has issued a call for print companies with digital or large-format equipment to register their interest in becoming a ‘NowMaker’.

Those interested will have the opportunity to sign up to the new scheme at this week’s debut edition of PrintWeekLive, which takes place at Wasps Arena in Coventry from March 8th to 9th. Nettl will be in attendance and is keen to discuss the initiative with companies that are considering coming on board.

“When you downright must have it and can’t risk an overnight courier losing it in their system, you might want to opt for the certainty that a dedicated Nettl Now driver brings—after all, we’re making it round the corner,” Gunning comments.

Marian Stefani, chief executive of the Independent Print Industries Association (IPIA) also spoke highly of the scheme, describing the service as “game changing” for the industry.

This is really interesting. As consumers, we’re encouraged to source food locally, to cut down on food miles. The same should apply to print

Stefani continues: “This is really interesting. As consumers, we’re encouraged to source food locally, to cut down on food miles. The same should apply to print.

“Nettl now could be a way for national brands to cut their ‘print miles’ by having print manufactured locally to where they’re going to use it, and delivered just in time. Instead of ordering in bulk, they could order only what they need, just a few hours before they need it.

“This could be game changing.”
