Making an impact in new markets

Impact Sign Solutions has emphasised the need for companies in today’s market to diversify into new sectors if they are to remain successful—highlighting its own experiences as how such moves can help propel a business forward

Impact Signs’ ongoing investment plan has allowed the company to grow and expand year-on-year

Having started more than 20 years ago with a vinyl cutter and an engraving machine, Impact Signs has now established itself as a leading provider of a whole host of products, ranging from fascia and neon signs, through to vehicle graphics and vinyl lettering.

“It’s incredibly beneficial if people can get their fascia, business cards, window graphics, etc, all from one place,” Impact Signs says, adding: “We know that we’d much rather get everything we need from one place than go to four or five places, especially when it comes to ensuring that branding is consistent.

“This is why Impact Sign Solutions is always trying to find new ways to improve the services that we offer to customers.”

Building on its original arsenal of equipment, the firm has now invested in a Roland printer to expand its vinyl abilities into printing and cutting, as well as allowing it to dip into areas such as exhibitions and banners. Impact Signs has also taken delivery of a large-scale HP printer to work on large paper prints.

Impact Signs then identified the need to support its engraver and purchased a router and an acid etching machine, enabling it to offer various processes and increase the sizes it could work with.

Moving to the present day, Impact Signs recently took on an Océ flatbed printer, which has enabled the company to create large-scale prints onto products such as Foamex, Correx, and Alupanel with speed. In addition, the company this year brought in a Roland LEF printer to, primarily, speed up the process for full colour printed clear acrylic plaques, but the machine has also allowed it to move into the promotional market.

“Being able to print white and gloss ink has allowed us to diversify by being able to print textures, braille and even on golf balls and black leather folders,” Impact Signs explains.

‘Diversification’ has been a buzzword in the industry for some time now and the example set by Impact Signs show just how much of an impact expanding your reach can help grow a business.
