Cestrian Imaging has become one of the first firms in the world to invest in an EFI Vutek HSr Pro

After considering a number of options, the firm chose EFI due to the equipment’s strong production capabilities and their ‘precise ink lay-down’ which enables production-quality imaging at impressive speeds.

The new roll-to-roll press can handle flexible materials up to 3.2m wide, and comes with an elevated unwinder and rewinder system as well as multiple-roll capability and two 152cm rolls.

Production director at Cestrian Paul Gibson explains: "At Cestrian we pride ourselves on developing and processing materials which provide our customers with the best solution for their requirements, including those products that have high environmental credentials.

The EFI Vutek presses give us the flexibility to process these materials with a low amount of waste, offering high quality at a competitive speed

“However, our innovative approach to product development is not without its challenges, with some materials providing print instability and ink adhesion issues, for example. The EFI Vutek presses give us the flexibility to process these materials with a low amount of waste, offering high quality at a competitive speed."

This new investment is the next step in what has been a three-year journey to boosting the firm’s portfolio and expanding its capacity, with around £2m spent on the latest printing technology in that period.
