Evans wraps the globe

Describing it as a ‘light bulb moment’, Tim Evans of Ohio-based Prosignrepair.com has launched a global business mapping service for vehicle wrappers that need to source outside help when completing complex projects.

All of the maps are searchable by postal code and shop locations can be filtered by the various certification systems

“The origination of the WrapperMapper.com is typical to most new ideas, solve my own problem,” says Evans, adding: “We are 3M Certified installers and often have need for install help with projects that are out of our regular area. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to scroll through the various certification lists and precisely identify where they actually are located in relation to the work site, so it would be nice to able to see the information on a live map.

“This is where the light bulb went off and I figured I could build a website that would solve my problem and possibly help out the other wrap installers with the same issues.”

The new global service is designed for ease-of-use and for a quick consultation the small map on the front page can be used, or a more specific search on a more detailed larger world map can be conducted.

Evans continues: “All of the maps are searchable by postal code and shop locations can be filtered by the various certification systems. If you want to only see the shops that are 3M Certified you just select it from the drop down. All of the other shops disappear and you are left with a map of only your specified shops.”

Any sign-maker or wrap specialist can list their business on the site, which Evans claims has already been populated by business from California, through Europe, to South Africa. He also emphasised to SignLink that all 3M Trained Applicators are listed on the site and both the 3M Trained (UK) and 3M Authorized (UK) shops have been tagged for specific search filters.

He concludes: “Currently, I let any wrap install shop submit an application to be on the map for free. If they hold a valid certification, they can list it and I verify against the official lists before including them with the appropriate organization. The map shows their name, where they are in the world and what certification they hold. I also offer a Premium Membership to the shops that want more exposure and to stand out from the rest. The Premium level allows the shop to list their contact information, live web links, a larger map icon and a photo gallery to showcase their work.”
