Cyclists competing in Tour De Yorkshire in Kirklees could have become very confused if it was not for Fastsigns of Huddersfield.

The signs created by Fastsigns Huddersfield were vital to ensure the smooth running of the cycling race

The Yorkshire company were charged with producing signage that ensured the major cycling event ran smoothly.

Mark Davies, owner of Fastsigns Huddersfield, says: “Thousands were expected to turn out for the Tour de Yorkshire, both to watch and take part, so managing traffic and parking effectively is a priority for the organisers.

“Our job was to create nearly 600 black-and-yellow temporary signs that will be displayed close to the route, warning people about possible delays and parking restrictions. With so many signs to produce, our team of six kept the printer going until the job was complete.

I am always pointing our signs out to people, but this one feels particularly exciting

“I am always pointing our signs out to people, but this one feels particularly exciting. I’ve watched the Tour de Yorkshire in Huddersfield before and it’s so fast—those cyclists certainly don’t hang around!”

Starting in Bridlington in April, the three-day event saw amateur and elite riders, including Sir Bradley Wiggins and Lizzie Armistead, tackle some of Yorkshire’s toughest climbs and cobbled streets, passing through rolling countryside and picturesque towns such as Harrogate along the way.

Cyclists arrived in Kirklees at Clifton, Brighouse on the third day of the ride, as part of the 195km journey to the finish line in Sheffield.

Fastsigns Huddersfield are part of the franchise firm and have been established for 12 years.
