Signbox stands tall with major London project

Having gained the attention of the global sign market following its success at the FESPA Awards, Signbox has gained further praise for a project it recently carried out in London.

The signage specialist assisted with the revamp of The Mille building just west of the capital in Brentford. The project ran from August to December last year and Signbox worked in partnership with building owner McKay Securities, architect Spratley Studios and specialist contractor KeyShel to deliver a range of bespoke signage.

The project included high-elevation, exterior illuminated lettering, reception signage, directory listings and wayfinding totems.

Revealing more details of the job, Signbox project manager Andrew O’Hara cites the high elevation lettering as the biggest challenge for the company, explaining that it had to draw on its many years of experience to complete the installation.

“We had to draw on our many years of collective experience in order to make that happen safely and efficiently, but beyond that, there were other challenges to overcome,” O’Hara says, adding: “The illuminated signage behind reception needed to be installed in such a way that there were no visible fixings.

As it's a twelve storey building, the refurbishment programme had to work to a very strict timetable and Signbox had to comply with this while working alongside multiple contractors

“To achieve this we worked closely with the architects and their specialist joinery contractors to find a satisfactory solution.”

O’Hara also spoke about how Signbox had to take into consideration the size of the building, explaining that all work was carefully planned out to ensure the project was finished on time.

“As it's a twelve storey building, the refurbishment programme had to work to a very strict timetable and Signbox had to comply with this while working alongside multiple contractors," O’Hara says.

“But ultimately we were able deliver on everything expected of us to a very high standard and this has immediately led on to further project work at The Mille and to subsequent projects with the client, the architects and the interior refit contractors.”
