Signs Express Basildon takes off with major job

The Signs Express Basildon branch recently took on its larger-ever project by helping Turkish Airlines strengthen its presence at London’s Heathrow Airport

The entire project took over 3,500 man hours to complete

The project comprised a large globe structure, which was made from 16 individual pieces and, once put together, suspended by a steel plinth with a diameter of 6.5m.

Working in partnership with Fab Media, which organised all of the ground works, Signs Express Basildon applied graphics to each piece of the globe.

Tony Surface, owner of Signs Express Basildon, explains, “Each piece of the globe is literally the size of a house and so the sheer scale of the graphics was something we had never undertaken before.

We were really excited to work on a project of this magnitude and seeing the finished effect of the structure now it is fully installed gives me great pride in the work undertaken by my team

“It was very important to ensure the all the lines would align once they put the globe together at Heathrow Airport.”

In addition to the main globe structure, Signs Express Basildon also detailed five model Boeing 777 planes that adorn the globe and installed illuminated lettering spelling a number of the destinations available to fly via Turkish Airlines.

“We were really excited to work on a project of this magnitude and seeing the finished effect of the structure now it is fully installed gives me great pride in the work undertaken by my team,” Surface adds.
