Digital Print Innovations (DPI) has announced that its Virtu RR50 from WP Digital is now available in the UK as part of its exclusive distributorship agreement.
The RR50 is a five-metre UV-curing roll-to-roll machine which claims to be able to print on almost any material in configurations up to six colours with white. DPI says that it combines quality with productivity as it can print at speeds up to 320sq m/hr at an addressable resolution of 1200dpi.
“Previously, five-metre machines were limited by the variety of substrates that they could print to and the type of quality they would receive at the business end, limiting them to external applications with long viewing distances,” comments Stewart Bell, DPI’s managing director. “The addition of superior graphics quality to the five-metre width creates an armoury of new opportunities for display producers.”
The Swiss-manufactured machine sports a number of features which are designed to make it practical, according to DPI. These include a linear drive motor which does not use belts and runs the heads on a monorail-style system which the company says will reduce problems such as vibration and ghosting. Other tools are an X-Y cutting functionality and handling for multiple rolls, as well as a remote control for loading which means that a single operator can run the machine.
“With many specifiers demanding these traits from an eco-friendly production machine, we can say, comfortably, that this is the solution,” concludes Bell. DPI adds that the machine is suitable for a variety of applications due to ‘excellent’ media handling.
