Contravision turns magic into reality

I spoke to Richard Poole, head of marketing at Contravision, in an exclusive interview for Signlink, on the technology behind Contravision's latest offering. The impressive signage solution displays a solid picture from the front, while letting 65 per cent of the light through, so that the back appears see-through. The solution is perfect for retail, transport and restaurants.

Contravision has released a new screen that offers a solution that will truly wow the intended audience. The screens offer an unobstructed view from the back, but the front provides a vibrant display wall.

The Digital LED screen does this by allowing 65 percent of light to pass through from the front of the signage, and the reverse allows viewers to see through the display wall with no obstruction. A video wall can easily be created by linking the screens together and is perfect for a large office building which may need the natural light to shine through to keep the space from being too dark.

Richard Poole, head of marketing for Contravision, explains: “It is a series of LEDs in horizontal strips, and those LEDs can actually be different pitches, so between the centres of the LEDs can be between 2.5mm up to 10mm. Depending on how far away you want to view those screens, you can choose to have a 10mm pitch if you are a long way away, but if you’re going to be viewing it on the high street for instance, then you might go for a closer pitch because the resolution will obviously be much better with a closer pitch.

“Those are your horizontal LEDs and then in between each of the LED strips there is a gap that you can see through from the rear, you can see a little bit through the front, but in the same way the human eye makes up missing bits of a picture, it is the same with Contravision, the eye will make up the picture of the digital screen as well.”

There are three sizes available and easily installed, which makes the new Contravision Digital LED screens an ideal solution for retail stores and shopping centres, restaurants, and transport hubs.

Events can also benefit from Contravision’s latest solution, as demonstrated by its debut at The Retail Design Show in Olympia in London. Due to its unique make-up, it also has environmentally friendly benefits, due to its lower power consumption.
