While at the time of writing this, we were yet to open the doors of Signlink Live, the exhibition has been and gone. So, thank you to everyone who came out to see the show and I hope you all enjoyed it.

Make sure you check out our December issue for more in-depth reviews of the exhibition and I hope we can have just as much success next year.

This issue focuses on how smaller sign companies are boxing clever to keep up with the competition. I was lucky enough to catch up with two smaller sign companies, Elite Signs and Graphics, which has five members of staff, and Cowen Signs, which has 12. Despite being a smaller team, both companies stand out from the crowd with some incredible work.

It also serves as a reminder to anyone wishing to start up their own sign company that, despite some initial and ongoing challenges, it can be done.

There are a number of things you can do to achieve success as a smaller sign outfit, one of them being having your own distinctive design. This ensures that people remember you and your work. Think about your favourite fashion brand, for example. It sticks to a particular style so it is recognisable. For more tips, make sure you read the full feature on page 61.
