It's not all doom and gloom

I write this on a January day much discussed in the media for one of sadness—with dreary weather, dwindling funds, and maybe even a New Year’s resolution or two that has fallen by the wayside. I am of course talking about Blue Monday, however, I cannot help but think that it is not all doom and gloom, especially in the sign industry.

Leafing through the news pages of this February issue of SignLink, you will see stories of many companies boosting productivity through the purchase of new equipment. Take Dekalu, for example, a family-run printing business, which has more than doubled its production capacity and grown the business to fill that capacity, all thanks to the Acuity F wide-format flatbed printer from Fujifilm.

OKI is another manufacturer to have dropped a product launch in this issue with the Color Painter E-64s

It is also clear that there is nothing depressing about the number of new technology launches in this issue, which open different markets to sign-makers that could see you bring in more profit.

You will see that Roland DG has unveiled the VersaUV LEF-200 to meet growing demand for personalisation and promotional products—think unique smartphone cases, pens, and individual awards—a market that is truly booming in today’s market.

OKI is another manufacturer to have dropped a product launch in this issue with the Color Painter E-64s. With an affordable price point and high precision, the company says it is the ideal choice for large-format printers. Take a look for yourself and I hope you will agree that there is plenty worth celebrating in our industry.
