Good health and safety can win contracts

Over the last six months, safety in sign-making has become one of the topics at the forefront of any debate about the state of industry. Director of Alcumus Safe Contractor, a third-party accreditation scheme, has warned that a lax attitude to health and safety could lose work for sign businesses.

Stocksigns Group has take a step forward, with this in mind, to make sure its employees are working in a safe environment. As a result, the sign outfit has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus Safe Contractor, for achieving excellent health and safety.

Gemma Archibald, director of Alcumus Safe Contractor, warns: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.

“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way Stocksigns has done. The firm’s high standards set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector. Safe Contractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”

David Harbison, project development manager for Stocksigns, managed the accreditation process, and comments: “I am delighted that the good practices we employ at Stocksigns, have now been recognised with this official accreditation.”

Harbison adds: “As a company, we appreciate the importance of Health and Safety across our manufacturing and installation processes and having an official recognition such as Safe Contractor provides our customers and potential customers peace of mind when working with us.”

As the Stocksigns Group is an umbrella for Stocksigns, Messagemaker and First Call Signs, the accreditation will provide a uniform approach to health and safety. Stocksigns also help that it will also enable the business to win new contracts going forward.
